Brief
The Brake Room is Ford Dunton’s central food hall and a key social space for employees, offering a broad range of food and drink options throughout the day. Ford aims to revitalise this area with a contemporary design that enhances functionality, comfort, and the overall dining experience.
The objective is to create a modern and cohesive interior concept that reflects Ford’s innovative brand values. The redesign should improve spatial flow, support various dining and social uses, and foster a welcoming environment that encourages relaxation and interaction among staff.
The new design should introduce a clean, contemporary aesthetic aligned with Ford’s design language, using materials, lighting, and ambience that elevate the space while remaining practical and durable for high daily use. Subtle brand cues are encouraged, provided they complement rather than dominate the environment.
Practical considerations include acoustics, circulation, seating comfort, and flexibility to accommodate evolving food service needs. Sustainability and thoughtful material choices should also be incorporated where possible.
Deliverables include design concepts, layout proposals, visualisations, and recommendations for furniture, lighting, and finishes, leading to a final design package ready for implementation. The end goal is a refreshed Brake Room that feels modern, engaging, and well-suited to today’s workforce.
