The Brake Room is Ford Dunton’s central food hall, offering a wide range of food and drink options served throughout the day. Recently refreshed with a new contemporary design, the space now provides a modern, inviting environment that enhances the dining experience for employees. The updated look not only elevates comfort and usability but also reflects Ford’s forward-thinking ethos, creating a vibrant hub for relaxation, collaboration, and community within the Dunton campus.
The Brief
The Brake Room is Ford Dunton’s central food hall and a key social space for employees.
Ford sought to revitalise the area with a contemporary design that improves functionality, comfort, and the overall dining experience.
The goal was to create a modern, cohesive interior that reflects Ford’s innovative brand values.
The redesign needed to enhance spatial flow, support multiple dining and social uses, and encourage relaxation and interaction.
The design was required to balance a clean, contemporary aesthetic with practical considerations such as durability, acoustics, circulation, and seating comfort.
Sustainability and subtle brand cues were also key requirements.

The Solution
We developed a modern interior concept aligned with Ford’s design language.
The new layout improves flow, flexibility, and usability across different dining and social scenarios.
Materials, lighting, and finishes were selected to elevate the space while remaining robust for high daily use. Subtle branding elements were integrated to reinforce identity without overwhelming the environment.
We delivered layout proposals, visualisations, and detailed recommendations for furniture, lighting, and finishes.
The final design package provides a clear, implementation-ready solution for a refreshed and engaging Brake Room.
